LBSNAA visits Raphael
On 3rd February 21, the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy, (LBSNAA) Mussoorie, responsible for the training of civil servants of the Indian Administrative Service and Allied Services sent 59 participants to visit Raphael.
LBSNAA is conducting its 122nd Induction Programme for the State Civil Services.
The programme started with a film on Raphael followed by a brief visit as most of the activities are still closed since the lockdown was imposed.
A presentation to the participants was made with a focus on disability issues and the related legislation, specifically The Mental Health Act, The Rehabilitation Council of India Act 1992, The National Trust Act 1999, United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006, and The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
This visit – now an annual feature – serves to sensitize the administrative service trainees and officers on issues of inclusion, diversity and the special concerns of people with special needs.
